Custom Burgerbuns Show at Super7

Stoked to announce the up coming show "Funbuns - A Burgerbuns Custom Art Show" at Super7 at their new address of 1427 Haight St. in SF,CA on Sat Nov 20th.

I asked 35 of my favorite artists to bust out a custom of my new vinyl toy Burgerbuns. He is Mascot-Scale at about 6". He is produced by my bros at Super7 and sculpted by my other bros Gargamel. I designed the turn arounds for this badboy and Brian Flynn figured out the very unusual and awesome position of Burgerbuns arms. He turned out amazing! We showed him off at the SDCC 10 at the Super7 booth with the 1st release of the blank powder blue version to match my first release of my vinyl toy Hollis Price (also produced by Super7 and sculpted by Gargamel). He has 3 points of articulation, at arms and waist.

There will be some amazing customs at the show and we are also releasing the 1st painted colorway of Burgerbuns (2nd release)!

The show is a not-for-profit fundraiser, 100% of the proceeds will go to JOIN - a local nonprofit organization that works to "connect the street to a home".

Here's a statement from Marc Jolin, executive director of JOIN:

Annually, our six person street outreach team helps about 450 people end their homelessness by helping them return to permanent housing, and they, with the help of our housing retention team, provide support to another 600 or so people to help prevent them from becoming homeless. Our support starts with committing to a long-term relationship with each person we support and then typically includes help navigating the social service system, finding employment, accessing landlords who will provide a second chance, and helping overcome financial barriers to housing (like those I mentioned above). We also have a day space that provides critical basic services like a mailing address, phone, showers, lockers, pet food, computers, a community garden, and more.

Funds raised will provide financial assistance to help individuals and families either move off the streets into homes of their own or to prevent a family from becoming homeless. It would therefore pay for things like application fees, deposits, utility connections, transportation assistance, storage, and the like.

Le Merde wants to kick Diabetes Ass!

I am raising money for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, my wife Michelle and son Hondo are doing the walk this Sunday while I'm in San Francisco for an art show. I need to do my part... sorry for the late notice! Only 5 days left! I designed the shirt Hondo's Team just for the walk for Team Hondo to wear.

We did the design and provided the shirts and the rad dudes at Pork Chop Screenprinting in Austin and Seattle did the printing for free! Bad Asses!!

As you may or may not know, Hondo is 3 years old and was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes last June at the age of 2. Type 1 Diabetes is not new to our family, my dad was diagnosed at age 35 and my sister-in-law was diagnosed with it at age 10. Because of JDRF's research Hondo will have a different quality of life than his aunt and his grandfather have had. He could have an artificial pancreas before he is in high school and we are thankful for that and will do as much as we can to raise funds as a personal thank you to JDRF.

As part of the event, I have pledged to raise money. People can make donations on my behalf, so that I can reach my fundraising goal. With the donations raised, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation will fund the world's best diabetes research aimed at finding a cure. This will help so many people in our own community and throughout the country. Any amount you can give is great; I just appreciate your support.

Devoid of body but dripping with soul, the fine folks from Gargamel Japan, in collaboration with famed Pacific Northwest artist Le Merde, present the standard and pocket sized versions of Hujili's Ghost. Both are cast in ghostly clear blue vinyl and will be heading our way on Saturday (4/10) both in store @ Super7 Florida and online

Giant Robot is proud to present The Boys Are Back in Town, a group art show featuring new works by Matt Furie, Le Merde, and Johnny Ryan.

Matt Furie creates richly detailed and hyper colored illustrations and paintings that reflect the creative cross breeding of The Neverending Story and the unrestrained imagination of The Muppet Show. For this show, he is leaning less on the eye-straining detail of Bernie Wrightson and more on the simplicity and tweaked humor of the ALF Saturday morning cartoon series. For this show, he is contributing 50 pieces (including minis, floating heads, and POGs) related to his self-published Boy's Club comic, as well as "riffs on the characters of Johnny and Le Merde."

Le Merde has gained a rabid following in the limited-edition figure scene with his molten and oozing but cute style. Often lost in the shadows of his sculptural work are the Portland artist’s equally colorful paintings, which also reference a loving appreciation of underground comix, Japanese horror manga, and rock ‘n’ roll. He is preparing 50 pieces of cel and ink on watercolor paper, focusing on the "three Gs": ghosts, ghouls, and gods.

Johnny Ryan is best known for his self-published title Angry Youth Comix, which was picked up by Fantagraphics Books in 2000. His crude yet totally polished and undeniably funny illustrations reveal both a ruthless-but-loving knowledge of the topics that he slays (superhero comics, science fiction, Ernie Bushmiller, the Holocaust) and a seemingly effortless mastery of linework and energy. He promises 50 pieces of "awesome shit."

Giant Robot was born as a Los Angeles-based magazine about Asian, Asian-American, and new hybrid culture in 1994, but has evolved into a full-service pop culture provider with shops and galleries in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and New York City, as well as an online equivalent.

Here is a custom of my new dude Hujili's Ghost for my show "Severed For Life" which opens this Sat March 6th at Gargamel's Thrash Out in Japan.

開催一週間前にして、フライヤーができました。
今回はLe MerdeらしくCDジャケットサイズで作成しました。
CDケースに入れると、っぽいです。

そして、限定品のテストショットもあがってきました。

上胴、下胴の２パーツを新規造型、ヘドラン(次男)の手足を流用しました。
せっかくスタンダードサイズで造ったので、座れる様に造ってます。

また、今年の福袋用に新規制作したポケット怪獣サイズのHujili's Ghostもリリースします。

I did 56 Sketch Cards for the new series of Star Wars Galaxy 5 cards. They are mixed in as chase cards.
